Tecmo Koei just announced Dead or Alive 5 is coming to the PlayStation 3 and 360 in 2012. No other details other than the below images have been shared during Tecmo Koei’s Tokyo Game Show presentation.

Hayashi said fans won't have to wait long a while ago already so about time this is official.

Shall get it even though I don't like Hayashi one bit. He's too much of a Ryu fanboy for my liking. Dimensions ruined what little story the series had up to this point.

"I'm a fighter" but... Ryu has to help me defeat my foes.

Must say the game looks good as an alpha build but there is far to much going on in the background, can become very distracting at high level play. There's a reason high level tournament play is normally done of the most basic of stages. I get what they are going for but it seems a bit much.

It was stated though that Team Ninja is calling DOA5 “fighting entertainment,” rather than “just a fighting game.”

That could be a good thing or it could be a bad thing.

That's very cool but agreed way to distracting with that amount of stuff going on, it looks cool as a cutscene but that will drive me insane.

the hit wave thing also is annoying me but i like where they are going with it, will probably end up being a really fun game.

Besides the projectile at the end of that trailer it looks like it plays just like DOA4 for the most part to me. Will have to wait and see if the counter systems still at work though. And besides Dimenstions this supposedly again introduces projectiles, which is new to the series.

Didn't know about the "entertainment" part 'till now. Hayashi vision at work. Same guy who thinks Ryu should grow a conscience from killing fiends. Magic word in that sentence being the last.

10 to 1 the hazards in the stages stays. You rarely saw pro players fall prey to any in DOA4 tournaments. There always were and will probably still be safe zones.

Good to see its coming to both consoles. A big dot on my radar but still sceptical nevertheless.

Just give us a proper net code this time please.

This is awesome news. I'm a big DOA fan. Hopefully they don't put a SUPER OVERpowered boss in like DOA4. that was the only issue i had with DOA4. Can't wait to see more about this game. i think the enviroment is cool, it changes as you fight the match.

Lol Alpha-152 was a nightmare with the slower characters, true... Will have to wait and see how DOA5 will handle the difficulty spikes. Should be easier though.

They should soften the bounces and make escaping easier too. I thihk that's probably the biggest negative most newcomers had with DOA4 - if they were launched they were dead.

I guess this will only show itself late 2012? It surely has stiff competition. Please be worth the 7 year wait.

Have to look up some DOA boards again soon and then decide which comsole to get it on. Been thinking of getting a PS3 for a while now and seeing that Team Ninja's treating us to 2 titles next year, community, playability and DLC might just justify getting one.

For now though I would love to see the new character models. Pre-Alpha build means its not showcased in that trailer.

Moves look quite cool though and the game looks really good. Just a shame with all the environment stuff.
