Like Tea said, you dont have to play 1 & 2 to know whats happening in 3! But Max Payne 1 & 2 are still great games that you should play at some point!

Had a chance to Sneak Peak this and I have to say its exactly what the new Max payne 3 should be. Admittedly I was concerned about the Linear gameplay environments but even though they are fairly direct routes and you always kno where to go, each area is vividly created and feels "alive", even the most basic corridor you go down has creativity that you would expect to be there, photos, paintings and detailing that makes each new environment you go into feel unique and interesting.

Max payne as a character is still morbidly depressed and deals with this in his normal means, pills and booze - but in keeping him so they have managed to capture that gritty noir feel without having the backdrop New York city and its darkness in play.

Bullet time, and the tweaked control mechainc does feel a little tricky at first but once you have it down, you pull off some of the coolest, gruesome, slow-mo action kills in gaming!

Believable Characters, well written story mixed with overtop action scenes makes Max Payne 3 an Incredible Experience 9/10 from me!!

To ALL 3rd person shooter Devs...go play Max Payne 3 and see what a 3rd person game should be

OMG!!! This is truely a FANTASTIC game, in every way!!! I am so impressed by this game, from graphics to story to gameplay, this game just does EVERYTHING right. The story is good, but not just what the story is about, but how the game tells you the story is awesome...from in game to cut scenes, you are constantly part of the story, it's almost like reading a book and playing at the same time, it's really done well.

Graphics, Man O'man, this game is beautiful, the scenery is so smooth and "real", it's just amazing, I can't explain it to anyone, you HAVE to see it yourself, to know how awesome it is. My fav part is the destruction in the world, when you shoot and miss, and the bullet hits a wooden cupboard, you see pieces of wood fly, when you hit a filling cabibnet inside an office (especially with a shotgu it's paper everywhere, and a wall, you just see dust, just like in the movies, it is SO well done.

This is the 1st game that I can honestly say, the gun fire sound, is what real guns sound like. When you shoot with different guns they sound and feel different, COMPLETELY different. The sound is so real (take in consideration i played with my headset) that I can almost feel the power of the gun, when you shoot with a shotgun, you know you shooting with a powerful gun, an AK47 actually sounds like an AK47, it is beastly and also something you have to experience to know what I'm talking about.

Max Himself reminds me SO much of Bruce Willis in Die Hard (especially after he shaves his head ), he's a drunk, drinks pain killers and swallows it with his scotch, just to try and forget about life, but he's also a person that is in total control when sh1t hit's the fan. Mty fav part about Max, is his dry sense of humor, just after a serious gunfight, he can say something that makes you laugh uncontrolably, and rigyht afterwards, he can be straight up serious again and make you realise you're back in the action. My favorite thing he said was "I have a hole in my 2nd favorite drinking arm", my god, I laughed when he said that, in that moment it was the last thing I expected him to say, but the game is full of these funny remarks from Max. Not sure how many of you noticed, this game is so in detail, that in certain areas of a chapter, look closely at Max's shirt and see how he sweats after a while, I was gob smacked when i saw that the 1st time, I've never seen that in any game before.

I have not yet finished this game, but I'll give it a 9/10, the reason I can't give it 10/10, is due to the bullet cam or action cam whatever it's called feeling a bit pointless. You'll get into more trouble using it, than getting you out of trouble, I hardly use it, the only time I'll use it, is when my next cover place is far away from my current one. It looks awesome whne you use it, but as i said, there is NO need for it in this game. I wish they made it more "needed" in this game. Other than that, this is the BEST 3rd person shooter I have EVER played. If you don't have this game yet...go see a doctor, there's something wronbg with you...

I LOVE THIS DAMN GAME!!!!! Finished Part 2 last night, this game makes me HATE work ...just want to go home and play some more rather than be at work , damn this game is good

@ Tea - The way the story gets told in this game is just too cool and the amount of detail in this game is unbelievable...this game is seriously mind blowingly good, the way Max tells his story whilst you busy playing is just awesome, i know it might sound minor or dumb to some, but there's just something so cool about it to me . No spoiler I promise, but the story took an UNEXPECTED turn in this game, I did not see it coming, not something I think anyone would've thought could happen, can't wait to see how it ends, although, I'm gonna hate it when I finish this game

^^ Triple B was in the other Max Payne games as well, in comic book form! & in one mission a guy you have to protect is wearing a Base Ball Bat Boy mascot outfit lol!
