Is this a tie-in with the movie reboot?
Movie games have a rather large suck ratio...

Yup, it's a tie-in. However it's the same guys that made Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time.
What's worthwhile noting though is that they allegedly cut their work force from EoT to work on this, hence the mediocre reaction to EoT.

We'll just have to wait and see.

Shattered Dimensions was a[censored] game, it was entertaining for the 1st 4 hours, then it was just like, wtf, same[censored] in every stage, just harder...didn't get EoT due to Shattered dimension and thank god I didn't, most ppl hated EoT, besides, Spider Man feels so squishy compared to BATMAN , and I see in the video Spiderman is swinging on clouds again, wtf...

So apparently the game is going to be a mix of web of shadows and Shattered Dimensions, which is awesome news as that will combine the awesome free roaming aspect of Web of Shadows with the great detail, action and controls of Shattered Dimensions.

Also the game will take place after the movie and is apparently releasing on the same day as the movie, July 3rd 2012.

It is also going to have a great selection of villains which is great news.

Here is hoping the extra development time will bring good results, looking forward to seeing more of the game in action.

Replying to a fan query, the title’s lead game designer confirmed over Facebook: “Our game brings back free-roaming in Manhattan, where you guys will be able to swing around and discover a variety of side missions, challenges and mini-games in addition to the main storyline.”

Meanwhile, the game’s art director shares that The Amazing Spider-Man game is being developed with a more “realistic” mindset than previous Spider-Man titles.

“We approached the villains and many aspects of this game with a more ‘realistic’ mindset,” he writes on Facebook. “The game features exciting new interpretations of fan-favorite Super Villains, and all-new villains created specifically for the game. We’ll reveal them in the upcoming months!”

At the beginning of the trailer you can see the web cartridge thing on his wrist.

Game looks massive though, a mix between Shattered Dimensions and Web of Shadows equals a freaking awesome spider-man game. lets hope they put some good love into this game cause it has potential to be amazing.
