Also, if you alter an established character by race, you are either going to show that race doesn't matter, so there was no reason to do it, or that you just wanted a "black version" of a character, which is likely riddled with stereotypes.
Look, creating new characters of any race is fine, but trying to rewrite those with an established history is not a good idea, it's pandering
